Jesús Barquín:A wine that grows on you as the tasting goes on—from a nose that does not quite explode as it should, to a mouthfeel that is pleasant and harmonious. Well structured, and culminating in a magnificent finish of jammy black berries, spices, and even a refreshing note in spite of tannin and alcohol. 16.5
Richard Mayson:Another deep, opaque-colored wine; again, not showing a great deal on the nose, but with some underlying opulence; fresh, firm, berry fruit, tight-knit but with rather hard, green, dry tannins persisting on the finish. Just a bit too one-dimensional to score highly. 13
Charles Metcalfe:Dense, herby, plummy, quite closed. Firm tannins, good acidity, powerful fruit, more black than red. Fresh, dense, but balanced, with good graphite-like tannins, lovely acidity, and powerful fruit. Length is good. Perhaps not the most complex of wines, but good—and it should develop. 16
