Jasper Morris: When Pascal made this wine, he reckoned it would need 30 years. Two thirds of the way through, it looks as though his estimate will prove about right. At this point he was punching down the juice six times a day! The color remains very dense, and the fruit is massively powerful, which it needs to be to cope with the vast tannins and the high acidity. But it will cope and should become a great bottle in ten years—at least!
