Jasper Morris: The color is beginning to dissociate. The bouquet shows the classic ’83 leathery tannins rather than fruit, and although the palate does still show fruit, the combination of tannin and high acidity is tough to take— though this could be matched successfully with an appropriately rich dish to tame the tannins. Pascal Marchand arrived in time to bottle this vintage, which was sold as Pommard rather than Premier Cru Clos des Epeneaux.
