BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Dense, ruby/purple. Ripe, figgy, tobaccoinfused nose. More Primitivo than Aglianico? Lots of flavor, good acidity, power, fresh acidity. A little rustic perhaps, but a wine with good complexity and balance 16.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep, almost opaque. Vanilla and woodsmoke, Morello cherry on nose. With all this tannin and acidity building up, it is getting harder to judge a wine independently, but this seems a serious contender for future honors, though it would drink well now, too, with the right foods. 17

Bruno Besa: Black core to garnet/tawny rim. Open yet slightly vegetal nose. Fairly balanced palate, with good grip and compact fruit. A good wine; shame about the nose 15.5
