Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep; still predominantly ruby on the rim. Nose attractive but a bit dumb at the moment. A little metallic, a little tough at the moment, but it has the constituents of a good wine. Plenty of dark, chewy, cherry fruit behind (at present) slightly forbidding structure. Leave till 2017. 15.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink rim. Complex, mineral, spicy nose, with small red fruits, toasted nuts, and hints of smoked red meat. Elegant, firm, small redfruit palate, with clean, cranberry-like fruit, and a long mineral finish. A super-refined Brunello. 18.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep, saturated black-red. Generous and articulate aromas, built on a core of ripe, very slightly raisiny fruit over a savory backdrop. Smooth, lush, and tangy on the palate: baked cherry, cream, and coffee. Generous and very easy to like—and as with many of these wines, the splendid tannin structure brings a sense of seriousness, gravity, and purposefulness to the wine’s close. 15
