Andrew Jefford: Relatively full yellow-gold. Restrained sulfur and deftly defined pink grapefruit and cardamom scents. A little clove, too. All this, though, is very soft, very stealthy: a waft, a mist. Nose-caressing. On the palate, the wine is dry, with some structure and force, though we are still in a cool zone, and by any universal measure this is fresh and delicate. Balanced and harmonious, with lots more gentle pink grapefruit, a little mandarin sweetness, and then some drier punch spices on the back palate. Another wine that would be delicious to drink and easy to match with food—though as already noted, the drier styles pull back some of the fruit articulacy for which “classic” Germany is so celebrated. 15

Andreas Larsson: Young, fairly intense, and yellow-fruity nose, with a hint of minerality. The palate feels ripe, with juicy stone-fruit flavors and a bright freshness; still it’s quite light and well balanced, with a juicy and fresh aftertaste. 15

Stephan Reinhardt: Intense white-golden color. Very clear and aromatic on the nose, some Muscat à Petits Grains aromas. Refined, with a racy attack on the palate, very mineral and intense, nice sweetness and roundness, very salty and intensifying with every additional second and expanding to a great length. However, this wine has already closed down and is promising rather than showing everything now. 17
