BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Very marked by wood on the nose, with powerful, persistent cedar aromas, this is a virile wine, very constucted, the tannin currently a little too dry, and more Médoc than Margaux this year. 16/16.5

Michael Schuster: A touch of herbaceousness on the nose; slightly dry-edged tannin round a sweetly fresh, succulent fruit; flesh and charm in the nicest sense, and good, light length. Margaux delicacy. 2014–22. 15+
