Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep, tendency to orange. Fruit and flower on nose, not strong but clean, good acid-fruit balance, very correct without being exciting. Drink from 2014. 14
Stephen Brook: Rich, heady, seductive blackberry nose. Decidedly sweet attack—not at all what I expect from Brunello. There’s heat, too. Were it not for the tannins, I would put this in Puglia rather than Tuscany. I assume this confected wine is a stylistic choice and not one that finds a warm welcome from this taster. Only moderate length, too. 13
Andrew Jefford: Clear mid-garnet red. Bright, warm, milky-misty aromatic profile through which the warmth of the summer is gently falling. Scents to draw you in, in other words, though without a lot of focus and refinement. Beautifully ripened fruit gives this wine a central-palate glow and a creamy baseline that I like a lot. Gratifying, warm, and enticing, and lots of concentration evident in the persistent finish. Not a wine for extensive cellaring, though; nor is it one of the more complex wines in the tasting. That slight lack of support means that there is some drying on the end palate. 15
