Nicolas Belfrage: Quite deep. Plummy cherry fruit on the nose; serious sweet-and-sour on the palate—a wine of contrasts. Plummy in various ways, flavor and texture. Could drink early but probably best to wait a couple of years. 16.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Very intense, herbal, small-black-fruits nose, with mint, petrol, and hints of rosemary and thyme. Full body, with big tannins, well supported by the layered small-black-fruit palate, and long, clean finish. A young Barolo that needs time but shows great potential. 18
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red; opaque at the core. Warm, gruff, and earthy; generous aromas, though not stylistically sublime (just yet). A generous wine, too: rich, long, ample, texturally generous, with impressive depth and drive of fruit. The flavors are complex, earthy, long, energetic, spice-qualified. Labrador-like Barolo, of huge energy, enthusiasm, and inner force. Other wines on the table are more crafted and refined and perfumed, but this is immensely satisfying. 16
