Andrew Jefford: Deep, dense black-red. Quite a sweet, oaky scent, without a lot of fresh-fruit presence or sensual intrigue. Ample ripeness, however, and a sort of incoherent aromatic energy that suggests a great terroir plus, with time, a little meatiness behind. (You keep going back to the glass; there is something there.) On the palate, this is big, generous, artless, fat, full, a touch raisiny-ripe, with outstanding tannins and some fine aromatic resonance from those tannins. There is, though, very little fresh-fruit lift. A bit of a sumo Figeac, which is rather strange for 2012 from a vineyard with plenty of Cabernet. Very serious wine, nonetheless, and a fascinating waymark for followers of this great vineyard site. 2018–28. 92
