BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red. Complex, engaging, fresh, but also a little veiled and mysterious at this stage—you feel that there is more to come. A lovely aromatic profile, full of nuance. On the palate, this is vivid, fresh, rounded, poised, and fresh, too, entirely untroubled by tannin, in a singing and lyrical mood entirely consonant with the wine’s name. Pomerol from the Burgundian cloister. The gathered fruit is what will carry the wine into time, and it has hugely impressive grain and finesse. This definitely has the copse-like freshness of 2012 to it, but there are no green tones at all; a super wine. 2018–23. 93

Michael Schuster: Ripe to smell, with just a hint of leafiness, too; full, fresh, elegant, finely tannic; sweet and fresh to taste, gently spicy, long and graceful and even; not a powerful or particularly fleshy Pomerol, but one of a gentle, spicy refinement and fragrance, the faint leafiness part of its appeal. Long to taste, long and gently perfumed to finish. A subtle succulence. Very fine. 2024–40. 93
