BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Golden yellow. Serious mineral nose, mature, with excellent balance also on the palate. Very harmonious, discreet, sober yet expressive, with a satisfying, complex, and very long finish. Extraordinary. 94

Andrew Jefford: Deep, full, dropping gold; sunset on the Lake Isle of Innisfree. Relatively shy aromas, surprisingly enough for a 1996; malt whisky, warm dust, glowing stones, but you have to search a little. On the palate, it is open, scrutable, attractive in that it is completely developed and amply harmonious, yet we are sipping old wine here, and for me the raw materials probably didn’t justify 20 years in the cellar. 81

Richard Mayson: Deep, old gold in color; not very expressive on the nose but still clearly together with a touch of honeyed richness and depth; what to say? The fruit has almost completely degenerated yet it has somehow retained its freshness despite that. Dried up and rather astringent on the finish. This is a wine to admire and pore over rather than drink. 89
