BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Pale gold. A first bottle displays stale notes absent from the second. The nose is steely mineral, as befitting a tightly wound structure. Promising future but lacking charm right now. 88

Andrew Jefford: Light butter yellow. Lovely scents: creamy, developed, full, engaging, and very seamless and harmonious just now. On the palate, a little less exciting than the nose suggested: straightforward and satisfactory, but lacking a little of the intricacy that you hope the years might have brought. Would merit a higher score with more palate intricacy. 85

Richard Mayson: Deep golden butterscotch color; mature, with a touch of honey, but still rather subdued on the nose compared to some of its peers; there is a lovely savory richness on the palate, offset by fresh acidity but just lacking the edge to score highly. A rather hollow, extractive finish lets it down. 86
