SF | Deeper gold, with a persuasive aromatic of tropical fruit and wood-soaked vanillin; almonds and quince and evidence of botrytis. The palate differs radically form the Vedrines stable; it is all about alcohol, spice, and oaky grip; pineapple, barley sugar and a grainy texture. Full-throttle example, contrary in a sense to the reputation of Barsac, in particular, for restraint and subtlety. The result nonetheless, makes a statement and will please those who like high levels of residual sugar and a slab of extract. 89
AJ | A full, glowing mid-gold. Melon and pineapple -- but grapefruit and linden, too; the sweet things don't get it all their own way. Pristine and clean, and once again a sense of reserve, waiting for time to arrive with its key. On the palate, it's a step up in richness and concentration, compared to the average for this tasting: very fresh and lively, a Barsac whose glasses will be swiftly drained. That mixture of 'the fresh and the rich' noted on the aromas for the fruit analogies is absolutely true on the palate, too, and is one of the reasons for this wine's commanding balance. Fine finishing complexities. A merry-go-round of deliciously fruity treats.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 94
