Stephen Brook: Gold. Muted oaky nose, peaches and cream, but lacks some lift. Rich, velvety, concentrated, beautifully textured, and with enough spice and pep (even pepper) to refresh the palate and keep it from being cloying. Hints of caramelized oranges, as well as stone fruits. Not hugely sweet, but that allows more complexity to emerge. There’s a slight but appealing graininess to the texture, and some delicacy on the finish. Still plenty of life and an assured future. 18
Margaret Rand: Creamy nose, plenty of spice; palate lush, balanced, detailed. Some alcohol on the finish, but it’s not obtrusive; this is an elegant wine that dances. Very harmonious, complete; a lovely finish. Still developing, still evolving: it has years and years ahead. It’s not flashy, but everything is just right. 19
Michael Schuster: Deep, orange-hued gold; mature, quite complex wax, citrus zest, and botrytis-spice nose; rich middleweight, still with a nice defining acidity; very sweet, nicely sustained and complex mid-palate, minerally, aromatic, and with excellent length. Very good. Early maturity. Now to 2024+. 16.5
