Nicolas Belfrage: Lightish, bright. Rose-petal and tar, it’s almost more Barolo than Brunello on the nose. Far from the jammy fruitiness of a typical 2011 Brunello, this has Marmitey/savory/vegetal notes you wouldn’t expect. Could be good in another context, but it seems out of place in a 2011 Brunello tasting. 87
Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny, pink rim. A closed, yet clean, mineral, and complex red-fruit nose. Intense and super-layered palate, long, with a clean fruit finish. A wine to taste in a couple of year, since a lot is still hidden at the moment. 92
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear garnet red. Sweet, almost lactic scents at first sniff, but later you find red fruit and dry leaves, and it resolves itself into something a little more classical. Smooth, open-pored wine, which seems a little bit uneventful in this generally very exciting tasting, but which is nonetheless an honorable and satisfying effort and very true to its DOC. 82
