Bruno Besa: Bright garnet to ruby pink. Clean, open, complex, red and black fruits nose, with almonds, hazelnuts, violets, tar, and some earthy undertones. Medium to full body, with sweet, rich, layered black cherries and wild strawberries on the palate. Refined tannins and a long, elegant, herbal finish. Super Barolo, but needs time. 95
Andrew Jefford: Clear. deep, translucent black-red. Ample sweet, warm, richly invested cherry fruits, singing and shaking and shimmying about—a lovely, comely nose, graceful, intense, light, and svelte. A Midsummer Night’s Dream among 2017 Barolos. Don’t look for fatness and wealth, but the concentration, poise, zest, attack, and energy are all impressive. 89
Michael Palij: Clean, delicate, fresh, aromatic, ripe, and complex, with notes of tinned strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, red cherry, and plum allied to hay, licorice, and chocolate. The palate is concentrated, with a core of ripe fruit surrounded by tannins and acidity leading to a precise and focused finish of impressive length. This will age well, as the balance is superb. 96 Brilliant ruby to pink. Youthful, intense, elegant, mineral, almost seasalt nose, with sour cherries, raspberries, rosewater, and oyster shells. Compact, super-clean, elegant palate, with wild strawberries, sour cherries, crushed stones, blood oranges, and a long, mineral finish. Super-refined and with very long life ahead. | 92
