Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. Mature yet elegant and mineral, with red and bitter cherries, roses and tar, chalk and orange marmalade, meaty and inviting. Medium to full body, clean red and black fruit, sea salt and fresh mint on the palate, and a long, layered finish. Great Barolo, seemingly from a great vineyard. 95
Andrew Jefford: Dark, clear black-red. Rounded, warm, sweetly spicy, mellow, almost honeyed: aromas to put a smile on your face. Unthrusting and unforceful, which (I think) is what we expect from Castiglione-Falletto; in its place, a graceful charm and classicism. Nose-teasing. Excellent. Soft, subtle, graceful, poised yet vivacious, too. A beautiful drench of tingling Nebbiolo harmony and seduction. Magnificent ground-glass tannins. Admirable wine, elegant and refined and long and lingering. 93
Michael Palij: A very obvious example of Barolo with sweet fruit from a hot vintage and a generous hand in the cellar when it came to oak, it seems. The palate is attenuated, with harsh, aggressive tannins and scant fruit to provide balance. This wine is aggressively drying and astringent. 86"| Garnet to pink. Open, complex, mature, almost petrol-like nose, with intense geranium and rose-water undertones, offering red and black cherries, hints of tobacco, and an inviting rustic edge. Full body, with sweet fruit, big yet refined tannins, and lively, high-tone acidity. Long and generous, if lacking just a bit of finessefor now. | 92 "
