Essi Avellan: Pale color. A lovely pencil-shavings note on the crunchy, fruity nose. Wild strawberries, peach candy, and fresh raspberries. A lovely fragrance. Juicy, succulent fruit on the crisp palate of soft, creamy mousse. Lovely seamlessness and delicious fruitiness. 92
Simon Field: Chantilly lace color, the filigree of the bead also; the ghost sonata… a nose of spiced pear, baked apple, white chocolate, and nutmeg; the red fruits enter stage left and are persuasive, complementing the litany of description thus far and underwriting both latent power and overall stylistic consistency. Not overwhelmed by autolytic complexity, but with an attractive interplay between the sugar, the fruit, and the acidity, and a steady build on the palate, this example pleases and will continue to evolve. 92
Anthony Rose: Pale gold in color, there’s some subtle nuttiness from autolysis in the aroma of this Pinot-based fizz, a pleasing berries-and-cream textured mousse, yet the fruit here is quite austere, and the distinct phenolic grip perhaps suggests the substantial use of second-tranche pressing. 87
