Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep. Fruit and dried fruit on the nose, with some spice and truffle. Different style from previous, lots of sweet, ripe, almost jammy fruit, but not. Drinking now but has backbone to last several years. Good length. 16
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red at core, shading to lighter red at rim. Soft, gentle melange of red fruits; mellow and refined, with plenty of creamy poise. Rich, full, articulate, long; this is a very sumptuous, finely detailed wine. The palate seems to embrace everything from twigs and underbrush, through plum skin, to root spices and incense; the tannins are ample but accessible and unforbidding; the mid-palate pause is perhaps less evident here than in some of the other wines. This is a wonderfully seamless, beautifully crafted Barolo of great poise and finesse. Gorgeous drinking now, but plenty of development potential ahead. Bravo! Just a magnificent wine. 19
Franco Ziliani: Nice color, ruby bright. Very fleshy elegant notes of a ripe Nebbiolo with mint, licorice, tar-and-rose notes, plum and black cherries, leather and tobacco—a very interesting and rich bouquet. Good length and richness, solid tannins, ripe and fleshy, good intensity of fruit, fresh acidity, and a long finish. Very young; will improve with years. Hold in your cellar. 16.5
