Nicolas Belfrage: Hints of perfume on the nose, round and juicy on the palate, good acidity, drinking early, now for 10 years. Quite a serious Barolo disguised as a drinker. Not great, but recommended. 16
Andrew Jefford: Very deep black-red, clearing to a vivid cherry red rim. Lots of wind through dry grasses on the aromas; as with many 2009s in 2013, there is a sense that the aromas might be at a betwixt-and-between stage. Creamy, full, and ripe nonetheless—hence, enticing. On the palate, it is rich and full, softly though amply textured, with a lovely roar of fruit to it; powerful, long, ample. Plum and pomegranate fruits; rooty and vivid to finish. Admirably broad-chested if slightly inarticulate wine (just now). 17
Franco Ziliani: Deep, intense ruby color. The aromas are not perfectly expressed and just a little mysterious and hidden. Rich fruit, ripe—very ripe—some floral and vegetal green notes, the wine appears rich, harmonious, with great body and length, but the tannins are slightly aggressive and bitter, and the finish is very dry, without harmony and finesse.
