Andrew Jefford | Dark purple-black in color, still opaque at the core. Fresh, lush, vivid, deep, earthy, and spicy—ground-pepper fresh. An aromatically engaging wine, with more richly styled black fruits (blackcurrant and plum) than most and seaweed-like vegetal depths, too: impressive and enticing. Concentrated, deep, driving, searching: plenty of acid power but allied to flavors that are richer than most—and that have a savory dimension to them, as well as the splash of pounded plum and currant. The acids are beautifully bonded, in other words. Smooth tannins, but the fruit energy will carry the wine a year or two further than many of its peers. An excellent 2017 St-Emilion. | 91
Michael Schuster | This is promisingly black-fruit ripe to smell; full, fresh, finely if firmly tannic. A sweet, refined fruit core here, framed by a firm tannin, but long and graceful and persistent; a sinewy elegance, and so a wine that will need, and reward, bottle age. 2027–37+. | 91
