Jesús Barquín: In the nose, there is vanilla and spice, black pepper, a creamy note. The palate is serious, intense, with earthy tannin, fresh and vibrant; very enjoyable already in spite of its power. Very long and persistent, excellent. 18
Alex Hunt: Lovely aroma: glossy, modern, but plenty of depth and freshness. Bananas, plums, blackberries, subtly oaked. The palate is surprisingly aggressive, with a big hit of acidity up-front. The flavor seems blunted, and there is little development or finish. Whether the result of deliberate adjustment or just an unfortunate balance in the grapes, the palate fails to deliver the pleasure—or even the style—promised by the nose. 14
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red. Warm, refined, beginning to evolve: a little bacon fat joins the lavender and the cistus and the warm stones. Very concentrated and deep on the palate, but wonderfully ample, too: expansive and enticing. There’s lots of subtlety of allusion (all those forest plants, all that vertical geology, while the fruit is growing in harmony and seeping into that repertoire of other flavors), but lots of sheer satisfaction, too. Perfectly balanced to provide maximum stimulation while maintaining drinkability and poise. A fine wine of great drinkability, great resonance, and great expressivity. 18
