Simon Field | Onyx dark, legs bestride the glass, the swirl releasing ripe fruit (plums, loganberry, and myrtle) and a pleasing subplot of juniper and crème de menthe. Just a hint of volatility. The palate is similarly complex, no rough edges, plenty of embonpoint and plush; Eckberg or Monroe, take your pick. Serious but worldly; forward but restrained. Tannic grip and a long, eventful finish. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Very deep, saturated black-red, with some glass-clinging depths. Refined, fine-milled aromas combining blackcurrant and raspberry, vanilla, orange peel, and something more leathery, too: admirable aromatic organization for this stage, without the inchoate grandeur of some of its peers. Admirable on the palate, too, not just for that formal harmony of flavor, but for its arrow-like focus and purity of fruit, arcing through the wine. A very classy reading of its vintage, and a shapely and sculpted Port for the medium to long term. | 93
Richard Mayson | Rather sullen and a touch stewed on the nose, plum jam, perhaps a bit high-toned. Full, soft, and plummy initially, with dark-chocolate intensity mid-palate and broad, ripe tannins. But a bit disjointed on the finish. Promising. Perhaps needs time to come together. | 88
