Simon Field | Deep purple color, nearly opaque at the core. Pleasing nose of crushed raspberry, creamy compote, and soft spice. The palate is heady, powerful, and long, acidity marking out its youth. Firm steely tannins and then a potent, powerful mid-palate that marries all the components with dextrous indolence. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Such a dense black-red that the purple rim is barely visible. Dense, fresh, and allusive, with lots of holly leaf and sap to qualify the dark black fruits. Exciting aromas, full of promise, though slightly sweeter and simpler than the best of its peers. Mouth-filling, rich and lively, with the vitality that marks 2019 out so clearly from 2018. An excellent mouthful. All that might be missing is the core of amply ripened power of the “great vintage.” There’s a cool cast here. | 91
Richard Mayson | Still a bit raw on the nose, with a leafy- green edge. Some lovely, vibrant, spicy fruit, with a rather hard bittersweet tannic edge that lingers onto the finish. A bit one-dimensional. | 86
