Tim Atkin | Very floral, rose petal and balsamic notes. Big and ripe, possibly with some whole bunch, white-pepper notes and a twist of tangerine. Fresh finish, but the mid-palate needs a little more texture. | 93
Simon Field | Dense matter color; glycerol and texture assured. The nose is of plum duff, Christmas pudding, and toffee apple; aniseed, eucalypt, and a hint of camphor; overripe fruit perhaps. The palate is a little disjointed, diffuse, and lacking fundamental focus. Rich and generous, for sure, but maybe lacking the discipline and capacity to grow encountered in the best examples. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, dense, and saturated black-red: Still opaque, but the rim is garnet rather than purple. Dry and high-toned aromatically; the sweetness seems mentholated and just a little smoky. Admirable depth of fruit here, but the quality of the fruit is tenuous, almost slender, with lots of structuring acidity but not much inner warmth, core and drive. A vintage issue, perhaps. It drinks well enough now, but I wouldn’t store this wine for long. | 87
