Stephen Brook | Very ripe cherry and blackberry fruit on the nose. This is broad-shouldered and weighty, compact and concentrated, with robust but not harsh tannins to give backbone. Although quite grippy, it doesn’t seem extracted, though it’s brooding and undemonstrative now. Hard to assess because the fruit remains submerged. Quite long. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Another very dark wine: not quite opaque, but not far off. Currants and curds. Some wood/ woodland notes, too, though not necessarily barrel-related: the copse after rain. After a while in the glass all this settles down into a warm, enticing, well-rounded whole. Ample, soft, and accessible Brunello for the mid-term, with plenty of affable ripeness. Textured, full, deep, and already harmonious: impressive wine. | 91
Michael Palij | The nose is not immediately appealing, with a vegetal streak including green pepper, asparagus, and hedgerow. There is a vein of new oak on the palate that accentuates this wine’s basic lack of ripe fruit. The finish is short and angular, with little to provide the pleasure associated with Brunello. | 84
