Stephen Brook | The apple and apricot aromas are restrained by a light toastiness. Although the nose is subdued, it still shows some intensity. The attack is fresh but broad, with ample weight of fruit and concentration. Acidity perks up the mid-palate and finish, but at present I don’t find very much complexity. But it’s fairly closed, and it should be more expressive in a few years. Quite long. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Ultra-pale lemon-yellow for now. Rather understated for Guiraud, but there is some apricotty warmth, silky lemon, and appealing lanolin freshness: very clean and pristine. It’s silky, fresh, vivid, and full on the palate, poised to open up with the bigger fruits but seemingly reluctant to do it just yet. Lots of spices as well as the sense of fruits held in reserve; livelier acidity than many, though this is not a Sauternes essential. Yet another 2016 that is quite hard to scrutinize at the moment but suggests much more to come, and the score is more for that potential than for its present level of attainment. | 92
