Bruno Besa | Garnet to pink. Slightly closed yet intense, complex, and clean mineral nose, with sour cherries, prunes, tobacco leaf, and oriental spices. Medium- to full-bodied, with a mature prune and leather palate, fine tannins, and long, muscular finish. A compact wine with a long life ahead. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Clear black-red. Warm, rounded fruits, with ample mushroomy wealth; undergrowth, too. Earthy and enticing; unlit Havana leaf to finish. A complex nose. Very exciting wine on the palate, with a mass of dense fruits but interfused with notes of herbs, of plants, of cigar leaf, of nuts, and of root spice, too. Complex, grave, and authoritative Brunello. There is a little more sweetness here, too, than for many of its peers, so it has none of the drying bitterness that mitigates the finish of the less successful wines. | 93
Anthony Rose | Youthful, bright ruby, a hint of evolving garnet at the rim; a hint of rosemary on the nose, and light, spicy vanillin oak, too; good, bright Sangio cherry fruit, with some savory, herby notes behind the fruit; firmish, chewy structure for aging, and an equally firm spine of acidity, finishing quite traditional in feel and yet with a modern touch. | 93
