Simon Field: Impeccable pedigree here, from the bright, almost evanescent color, through the pure yet distinctive nose, a symphony of fruit and spice, then onto the palate, which is sweetly seductive, rich, and very hard to resist, long and eloquent. Black-berried fruit takes center stage, with a lick of black pepper, too; ripe, generous, and harmonious. Quite an achievement for one so young! | 91
Andrew Jefford: Super-saturated black-red, with lots of clinging scarlet-purple tears. Billowingly sweet, warm, fragrant, lifted aromas, full of fresh blackcurrant charm and sunny black cherry and plum, with spoonfuls of black-cherry sweetness, too: a disarmingly lovely young Vintage Port aroma, and more richly sweet in this vintage than many. Deep, creamy, warm, searching, layered, and powerful, this is another masterful wine in this outstanding vintage: long, powerful, and baroque. It’s a little riper in its fruit style than some, but there are fresh notes here, too, and some acid balance; the tannins are generous but supple. Outstanding work. | 94
Richard Mayson: Very deep, opaque, thin crimson rim; dense, closing in, but with underlying depth and purity of fruit; lovely, fleshy fruit, some depth, not especially big but with firm, ripe, gripping tannic super- structure rising in the mouth and onto the finish. A hint of dark-chocolate concentration. | 90
