Simon Field: Quite closed on the nose, any perceived reticence repaid with interest on the palate, which is exceptionally raw; very potent and very powerful, its commanding acidity overbearing, even overwhelming the muscular tannic structure, its injection of spirit submissive to an overwhelming framework. For the long and longer term, today’s vista somewhat compromised by the sheer scale of this magnificently precocious display. | 90
Andrew Jefford: Saturatedly dark black-purple-red in color, with lots of fresh, vivid, lifted, sweet black fruits and burnished spices. It’s just a little raw in style at present. Deep, thrusting, searching, and long on the palate, with powerful tannins, energy, and persistence. Extravagant, head-turning, and multilayered, this may well be one of the stars of the appellation in this vintage once it has calmed and settled a little. Exciting and tumultuous just now. | 92
Richard Mayson: Deep color, dense, giving very little away on the nose at this stage, but the hint of underlying dark-chocolate concentration; ripe, tight-knit, and well-integrated, with firm, peppery tannins and a long, fairly broad finish. Shows great promise for the long term. | 92
