Simon Field: A commendable effort from the less-than- illustrious year, in Port terms at least, that was 2014. This one saturates purple and breathes herbs and spice beyond benchmark violet and blackberry; medium concentration and an elegantly tapered finish. Not for the long or longer term, but perfectly pleasant. | 87
Andrew Jefford: Deep, saturated, midnight black-red, with some trailing glints. Sweet, fresh, and creamy fruits: very seductive. Fine perfumer’s spice behind. Rich, dense, full, plush, and mouth- filling, with very fine spices, impressive length, and hugely attractive soft fruits, freighted down with citrus peels, cream, and licorice. A really outstanding wine; how strange that it is a singleton! Sumptuous, long, and intricate. The only failing alongside 2011 is perhaps that its fruit doesn’t quite have the vibrancy and energy and primary freshness at this stage that similarly grown and handled fruit from a great vintage would have. But this is unquestionably well worth seeking out. | 93
Richard Mayson: Very deep and opaque in color; open, with a berry fruit and a green hedgerow character on the nose; spicy tannins supporting vibrant berry fruit with a fresh though rather green and minty tannic finish. | 90
