Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | An absolute wine for its refinement in all aspects, with more aromatic freshness even than the legendary 2016 vintage, and a purity in its persistence brought on by sublime Cabernets. | 98
Michael Schuster | The result of enormous attention to detail in vineyard, winery, and, especially, at the tasting bench during prolonged and challenging blending. Blending not only of individual lots but, above all, of particular barrel-wine combinations. And my goodness the efforts paid off! If one must have a wine of the vintage, this is the one for me. Sweet, floral bouquet, subtle and complex, finely oaky; rich, elegant, fresh, extraordinarily finely tannic —a really remarkable balance; wild-strawberry sweet, fragrant, subtle, supple, wine, a gorgeous presence, intense yet restrained, absolutely effortless and graceful, so long across the palate; at once juicy and succulent, and also a wine of exceptional scope and detail, gloriously textured and with a fragrance on the finish that seems to sit forever in the throat. I have been tasting wines en primeur for so long, that there are no longer many wines that really make me wonder, that move me when meeting them. This was one. Absolutely captivating, ravishingly beautiful, unmistakeably great wine. 2030–60+. | 98–100
