Bruno Besa | Ruby to garnet. Clean, refined, crushed stone and small, wild red-fruits nose, with dried roses and hints of sweet tobacco. Medium body, great mid-palate, with layered fruit and firm, noble tannins. Long, clean, complex, finish. Great Sangiovese, with a striking palate. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Clear deep red. The aromas here are just a little bit dry and restrained, though they strike all the right notes; good things here for those who go hunting in large glasses. Deep, vivid, exuberant, searching: lovely singing concentration and depth of flavor here. Super tannins, too, with satisfactorily muted, fruit-sodden acidity. After the quiet aromatic opening, it just expands at every level right through the palate to the final aftertaste: a well-made wine, and a very sound account of the vintage. | 90
Michael Palij | If Brunello is to be but one thing above all else, then it must be elegant. Power and substance are all well and good, but in a vintage such as 2014, collectors need to be reminded of this DOCG’s inestimable potential to achieve genuine refinement. This wine delivers that promise. The nose is convincing, with red fruit, oak, and black fruit all contributing to a most attractive whole. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and yet retains the structure that has always separated Brunello from mere Chianti Classico. | 95
