Tim Atkin: Developed, pale garnet. Very light, even for Sangiovese. reductive, rather old-fashioned aromas, with some sweet oak. Lighter style, with marked acidity, but the wine seems a little gutless to me, with a dry, slightly underripe finish. 11
Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, with some turn, as expected. A little inexpressive on the nose, unlike [the Barbi], but clean and correct. Lovely sour-cherry fruit on the palate, which boasts both breadth and length— which is impressive. Acid-fruit balance is very attractive, while tannins are present but under control. again, what one is looking for from this vintage. Drink now for 12–15 years. 17
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Intense, refined, complex, a touch closed on the nose, with mature, layered, red-and-black-fruit character, hints of bergamot and cloves. Full body, with superb fruit structure, well supported by a great tannic structure. young Brunello, with a long life ahead. 18.5
