Andrew Jefford | Saturated dense black-red in color, with aromas marked by forest coolness, as well as creaminess, incense spice, earth, and underbrush. The green tones are a kind of vintage hallmark or watermark, but no more than that, while the incense perfumes lend luster and intrigue to the aromas. There’s ample poise and depth on the tongue combined with moderate wealth, and the flavors are harmonious and finely crafted. Light-textured tannins—yet when you return to the glass, they shape the wine deftly. A graceful, detailed Domaine de Chevalier with both freshness and charm. Very true to the vintage, very drinkable—but somehow in a minor key for all that, as so often (for me) in this vintage. 2019–26. | 92
Michael Schuster | Cassis Cabernet nose; elegantly balanced, moderately concentrated, fresh, supple, finely tannic wine; crisply ripe in flavor, with a delicious fruit core, long to taste, gently aromatic, finely gravelly in aromas, and with excellent length to finish. Stylish, succulent, complete Domaine de Chevalier. 2023–35+. | 91
