BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Light mid-gold in color. A rich, graceful bough of sweet scent: honeyed, with fine fruits (dessert apple, peach, pineapple), creamy soft and packed with charm. It’s young as yet, but bodes well. Excellent Gewurz on the palate: lush, dense, rich, and resonant, packed with layered fruit sweetness and spiced warmth. A young classic that could be aged with confidence. | 92

Charles Metcalfe | Quite a golden color for a young wine. Has aromatics that hint at barley sugar and litchi. It’s weighty, young, and a bit ungainly at present, but it does have highish acidity to balance the sugar and a latent intensity that suggests a more interesting future. | 90

Jancis Robinson | Deep bronzey straw color. Not that much concentration. Just sweet, juicy wine. Nothing wrong with this wine with its bitter finish, but it’s just not compelling. Drink 2016–19. | 88
