BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Quite a pale steel-gold. Slightly odd scents, though—some vitamin B meatiness and grubbiness, and nothing lovely or lifted or sweet to engage with. Not wholly successful, and it doesn’t entice. Rather similar on the palate. One senses there has been some sort of struggle here, and the result is a little disappointing and coarse-grained. | 76

Charles Metcalfe | Hard to read at the moment, with what seems to be a hint of reduction and thiols on the nose, and not a lot else showing. Acidity is good, and balances the sweetness, but there aren’t many of the flavors I hope to find in Gewurz. Neither is there great length. Maybe that’s a good thing. | 79

Jancis Robinson | Deep bright gold. Very simple and sulfi dey. Unsubtle. Unappetizing. Drink 2014–16. | 85
