Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. A touch closed, lots of oak, mature small-red-fruit, with nuts, plums, and hints of road tar and violets. High-tone acidity on the palate, with clean red fruit, a touch simple on the finish. | 85
Stephen Brook | Brooding raspberry and cherry nose, with good depth of fruit. The nose lures you in. The attack is suave and silky, and there’s ample concentration without excessive extraction. I don’t detect much force or persistence, so this is probably a wine for the short to medium term. But it’s attractive and stylish, with the modest virtues of simplicity. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Deep, serene, and clear black-red. Cherry and plum scents, plus a mossy sweetness; very clean and pristine. Impressive aromatic finesse here. On the palate, this is deep, round, complete, and glowing: a totally satisfying glass of Barolo from a fresher vintage than some. The acidity is relatively prominent, yet beautifully bonded with the fine- ground tannins, and the fruit has been led toward secondary complexity prior to bottling. | 93
