BUY THE WINE

Alison Buchanan: Deep black plum in colour, this has a dark, brooding, yet seductive nose, with rather sultry, spiced fruit. The palate is sweet, rich and cream-textured, silky, with good weight. Richly fruited and impeccably balanced, this is lively and enticing – a lovely wine. 17.5

Jancis Robinson: Red. Smoky, aromatic, clean. Some spicy fruit, but lacks real weight. Just drying out a bit. 13

Jeremy Watson: Youthful wine in colour, on the nose and in the mouth, with the fruits being a mix of red and black forest fruits with bags of tannins. This backs the opinion of those who believe ’95 to be better than ’94, because the difference in ageing between the vintages seems far greater than 12 months. This is potentially an excellent wine, with elegance and style in the fruit and structure. 18
