Alison Buchanan: Yellow-gold in colour, this has a clean but rather characterless nose. It’s all very vague: vague spice/vague apple/vaguely nutty and floral. With a lot of agitation some fresh melon comes through to give focus. The palate reflects the nose but is more exciting. The focus promised on the nose does come through to give direction to honeyed fruit and white flowers. Short to mid finish. 12.5

Nicolas Belfrage: Yellow. Expressive nose of nuts and herbs. Good weight and balance on the palate, touch of grasso, firm acidity, complexity and length. Best of the Tocais so far. 15.5

Alex Hunt: Fairly opulent fruit for the grape variety, but a flatness of texture on the palate that doesn’t match up. Smells promising; finishes bland. 12
