Stephen Brook: Deep red. Dense, rich nose of chocolate and plums. This has opulence and charm. Fairly rich, juicy, supple and con cen trate d. Spicy, with vig oro us acidity. It needs tim e to harmonise but seems com plete and is very persistent. Fine potential. 18.5

Alison Buchanan: Very deeply coloured black ruby with slight garnet notes, almost opaque. Very closed on the nose - blueberry and cherries. Spicy fruit on the palate, brighte r than the nose would suggest. This is fin ely balanced - not old-fashioned - and not too nouveau. 17
