Nicolas Belfrage: Lightest in its flight. Quite intense fruitflower aromas of good persistence. A pretty wine with firmer acid than its neighbors, the tannins smooth in the middle but giving a slightly bitter kick at the back. Has the vitality and appeal to drink now, but should age well, despite relative lightness. The drinkability of a good Rosso, but with serious intent. 92
Bruno Besa: Garnet to ruby. Open, spicy, a touch developed on the nose, with smoke, crushed stones, small red fruits, wet soil, and fresh herbs. Soft, balanced, with intense spicy, tobaccoleaf palate and clean red fruit—just a touch green on the finish. 91
Andrew Jefford: Light, clear black-red. Warm, faintly tarry aromas; soft-focus; gently glowing embers in a long-lit fire. Earthy, warm, smoky, close-knit: winter’s night Brunello. Relatively sweet-fruited, but the tannins of course bring seriousness. 89
