Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep, bright, with definite turn. Lovely complex nose in the area of leather, spice, dried flower, and berry fruit. Attack is gentle, spreading; tannins are creamy; acid is nicely balanced. Very long finish in a traditional style. The only thing against it is that it’s delicious now, so how’s it going to age? Methinks well. Drink from 2016. 18.5
Bruno Besa: Pale garnet to orange; pink rim. Youthful redfruit nose, with small red fruits, violets, and fresh, Mediterranean herbs. Beautifully elegant palate, inviting and clean, with just enough tannins and complexity to make it a serious wine. A wine that needs to be retasted in five years’ time to see how it develops. 17.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear, light black-red; one of the less densely colored wines. A little bit reduced and confused: needs a good vigorous decant to freshen it up. Enjoyable, vigorous, sweet-edged, and spicy; smoother than many, though the black-chocolate tannins are still serious; coffee complexities to finish. This is another Brunello that doesn’t need an age before broaching. I like its sweet and generous flavor spectrum, which it combines with lightness and finesse on the palate to very attractive effect. More aromatic freshness and precision would have brought a higher score. 16
