Nicolas Belfrage: Color seems right for aged Sangiovese, distinct turn on rim. Some decadent dried fruit character on nose. A little too sweet and low-acid to be classic but good to drink now and for another five years or so. 16

Roy Richards Another one heavy with the crème de cassis. Could easily be majority Syrah. I am not used to tasting this “style” of Brunello and so find myself shocked. The wine is perfectly decent with great balance. 13

Franco Ziliani: Sangiovese-style color, brilliant ruby. Nose very appealing, elegant, with black cherry and plum notes, dried flowers, licorice, leather, some mint and pepper, fresh, complex, lively bouquet. Good balance between fruit, fruit tannins, and acidity. Ripe but not overripe fruit, solid tannins, good vertical persistence, and a lively salty, mineral character. Good to drink now but the structure makes me imagine a good ageing potential. 17.5
