Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep with turn. Herbal/spicy/ leathery nose. Good fruit/acid balance on the palate, the tannins ripe but a touch bitter, medicinal notes, good length. Traditional style. Drink from 2016. 16.5

Bruno Besa: Pale garnet to orange; pink rim. Intense, fruitdriven, small red-fruit nose, wonderfully mature yet most elegant, with wild strawberries, layered minerality, inviting and complex. Beautifully balanced palate, with medium body, layered red fruit, and long, firm, almost floral finish. A superb Sangiovese that, like many others in this tasting, shows amazing elegance and drinkability. It needs only a further five years’ of cellaring. 19

Andrew Jefford: Clear, limpid black-red. Grassy and herbaceous, with coffee-oak. Palate as nose. Weak in this company. 13.5
