Stephen Brook: Straw gold. Rich, plump, peachy nose and a touch of honey. Fine attack, with a good mix of acidity and discreet but intense fruitiness. Bracing and piquant; while creamy in texture, not an opulent style, so a touch understated for Suduiraut, but the balance is good. Perhaps a bit one-dimensional, but very good for the vintage, with a long, pure finish. 17
Andrew Jefford: Full, bright, buttercup gold. Slightly lean and keroseney initially, but it opens up to provide more classic butter and lemon, with typical Suduiraut generosity. Slight grassy note in the aromatic wake. Aromatically persistent, and with a power few of its peers in this tasting had. Soft, lush, and succulent, with pretty tangy lemon fruits. Lively and full; balanced and harmonious. Pretty much perfect now: an ideal apéritif Suduiraut. Doesn’t have the density and weight to merit long cellar storage. Nonetheless, there is an intrinsic grain and complexity to the fruits that lifts it well above its peers in this flight. 15.5
Michael Schuster: Bright, orange-gold; rich, waxy, honeyed to smell, with clear, coconutty oak; generous middleweight, with a fresh, defining acidity; very sweet, with the richness of Sauternes, a clear botrytis spice complexity and race, and good length. Now to 2020+. 16.5+
