Stephen Brook: Very deep russet-red. Spicy nose, oak quite pronounced, has a redcurranty tang. Certainly not overripe. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, but has some depth of fruit, more cherries than redcurrants, has some acidity and not baked, but not very long either, Furry tannins on the finish, and not the usual Chevalier elegance. 14.5
Stephen Browett: Medium-deep color. Spice and cream on the nose. Gorgeous to drink already, but there is more to come. A lovely, supple, smooth, and creamy texture, with some classic cigar-box and road tar Graves notes. Soft and silky but with great depth of fruit. Complex and harmonious. A beautiful wine and voted the best of all the Graves by the group. 16.5
Michael Schuster: Nicely balanced middleweight, relatively supple; tannin dry but very fine, no coarseness; straightforward character, modest scope, medium length; a bit attenuated, fluid at the core. Drink early, unlikely to have the time to really integrate before it falls apart. From 2010. It showed noticeably less well than at the Institute of Masters of Wine tasting a week earlier, where I scored it a point higher. 15
