Jasper Morris: Harvested September 21–25, 13.1% ABV, 33% whole-cluster, 50% new wood for 16 months. The color has moved toward a mature tawny brick-red now. The nose, however, is still vibrant and lively, offering a trace of jerusalem artichoke along with the peonies, but stylistically that is not a problem for my palate. Very succulent behind, again with that slight phenolic touch. Plenty of energy still. Burt felt that this was a great vintage, so he could let the grapes hang, even though today’s notes indicate a touch of under-ripeness.
