Rebecca Gibb: Richly aromatic and seductive; darkly fruited with a bright blackcurrant piquancy on the nose and undertones of oak-derived fudge and warm spice. Bottled several weeks before tasting and won’t leave the château until January 2018, this is mellow, round, and complete in the mouth, with a wonderful balance between elegance and fruit intensity. The finish brings finely textured tannins that coat the palate and a burst of fresh, mouthwatering acidity on the finish. Long, offering dark plummy fruit, pencil lead, and licorice flavors. Drink 2020–25.
